Obama campaign officials said that he would emerge with more Texas delegates despite losing the popular vote in the primary. They attributed that outcome to what they said would be his wide margin of victory in the state's precinct caucuses, which were held Tuesday night and accounted for one-third of the state's pledged delegates.
As of yesterday afternoon, the Associated Press put Obama's overall total, including pledged delegates and superdelegates, at 1,564 to Clinton's 1,463. Among pledged delegates only, Obama leads by 140.
Twelve contests, with 611 pledged delegates, remain. Obama is likely to end the primaries with a lead in pledged delegates. But neither candidate will be able to reach the 2,025 needed for the nomination, which means the Democratic race ultimately will be settled by the roughly 800 superdelegates -- elected officials and party leaders with automatic seats at the party's national convention.

Tja, dat ziet Hillary Clinton ook en dus is zij de eerste om maar eens een balletje op te gooien over een "Joined Ticket", maar ze zegt erbij, dat de kiezers in Ohio duidelijk hebben aangegeven, dat zij bovenaan op zo'n gezamenlijk ticket moet staan en uiteraard is dat geen geldig argument, omdat ze vandaag nog 101 gedelegeerden, van het totaal aantal dat door de kiezers is toegewezen en supergedelegeerden die zelf een keuze gemaakt hebben, achter ligt op Obama. Als de cijfers mogen spreken, staat Hilary Clinton tweede op een gezamenlijk ticket. In Texas is het verlies van Obama door zijn succes in de caucusses teruggelopen van 4 naar 1 en daar zijn ze nog niet helemaal uitgeteld. Over Texas hoor je Hillary dus niet en om echt terug te komen in de race, moest ze ook daar met grote cijfers (>10%) winnen. In Ohio haalde ze net de drempel.

Florida en Michigan, die wegens overtreding van de regels gediskwalificeerd zijn, willen alsnog voorverkiezingen uitschrijven. De moeilijkheid is (weer zo'n rotkunstje dat wordt ingezet), dat de Nationale Democratische Commissie die daar toestemming voor moet geven 4 vacatures heeft, waardoor het vereiste quorum voor een beslissing niet kan worden bereikt. Het is natuurlijk verre van redelijk, dat door ambitieuze stommiteiten van officials meer dan 4 miljoen Dempocratische stemmers hun stem niet kunnen laten horen in de voorverkiezingen. Van acceptatie van de fake-verkiezingen di egehouden zijn kan exchter geen sprake zijn. Howard Dean de voorzitter van de commissie zegt: "All Things Considered, he would welcome such proposals (nieuwe voorverkiezingen), but that simply seating the delegations is not an option. Changing the rules halfway through the game is incredibly unfair to both of those candidates and frankly would split the Democratic Party. So we're not going to do it."
In Florida gaat het om 185 door kiezers toe te wijzen gedelegeerden en in Michigan om 128.
Hoewel de voorverkiezingen in Michigan en Florida niet geleden blijft Hillary stug volhouden:

“If we want a Democratic president, we need a Democratic nominee who can win the battleground states, just like Ohio,” she said. “We’ve won Florida, Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona, Michigan, New Hampshire, Arkansas, California, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Oklahoma and Tennessee!”

Het is weer een teken van wat volgens Pointer Hillary's zwaarste gebrek is, dat ze haar eigen positie altijd overschat. Zou ze gelijk hebben, dan zou iedereen weten dat een voorsprong van meer dan 200 gedelegeerden op Obama heeft, een berekening die niemand haar nadoet, ook niet haar eigen campagnemensen.

The Clinton campaign suggested it would press on with its efforts to claim delegates from Florida and Michigan, two states where she won primaries that were held in defiance of the Democratic National Committee’s approved calendar and where neither candidate campaigned actively. Mr. Obama was not on the ballot in Michigan.

Omdat in Michigan alleen Hillary Clinton op de lijst stond, kon daar in de afgekeurde voorverkiezing niet op Obama gestemd worden. Dat zou de achterstand van Clinton dus in één keer goed maken. Dat de kandidaten niet in Florida campagne gevoerd hebben is onjuist. Hillary Clinton was daar wél actief, eerder en vlak voor de verkiezing, die werd afgekeurd omdat Florida zich niet aan de afgesproken kalender hield.

In Washington, members of the Michigan and Florida Congressional delegations were meeting Wednesday night to discuss ways to resolve the impasse. Democratic Party officials in Michigan have been considering holding a caucus-style election, and a spokeswoman for Ms. Granholm said she was open to the idea as long as no public money was used. Such a caucus has also been discussed for Florida.

Indien in Michigan en Florida alsnog op een later tijdstip caucusses gehouden zouden worden, werkt dat in het voordeel van Obama, omdat die het aanzienlijk beter doet in caucusses dan Clinton. Caucusses worden bezocht door de meest gemotiveerde kiezers en van Obama is duidelijk, dat hij meer gemotiveerde kiezers op de been brengt. Verschillen van 20% en meer zijn daarbij vrij gebruikelijk in het voordeel van Barack Obama. Dan zal de Billarygang ongetwijfeld erop aandringen dat geen nieuw geregistreerde kiezers, geen onafhankelijke en geen Republikeinse kiezers tot zo'n caucus mogen worden toegelaten. Een flink deel van Barack Obama's fans zijn jonge kiezers die zich op de dag van de verkliezing of caucus laten registreren, of, als ze thuis zijn opgevoed met een Republikeinse achtergrond, ineens omschakelen naar de Democraten, net zoals Hillary dat zelf deed op die leeftijd.
“I think that the electoral process has to work its way,” Speaker Nancy Pelosi said. “There are still many voters unheard from.”

Mr. Obama’s supporters have argued that the superdelegates should rally around the leader in delegates at the end of the voting. They predicted that Mr. Obama would make up the delegates he lost on Tuesday with coming contests in Mississippi, with a heavily black electorate, and Wyoming, which has caucuses, a process that draws more committed voters, who have tended to support Mr. Obama.
